Accelerated Weathering Apparatus

Accelerated Weathering Apparatus

Accelerated Weathering Test – Short Details

Accelerated Weathering Test is used to evaluate how a material (paint, coating, plastic, rubber, etc.) performs under simulated environmental conditions such as UV light, temperature, humidity, and water spray in a controlled laboratory environment.

The test accelerates natural weathering effects to predict long-term outdoor performance in a shorter time.

Purpose:

  • Check colour fading

  • Check cracking or chalking

  • Evaluate gloss retention

  • Study coating durability

Common Standards:

  • ASTM G154 (UV exposure – fluorescent UV lamp)

  • ASTM G155 (Xenon Arc exposure)

  • ISO 4892 series

Typical Output:

  • Visual observation

  • Gloss loss %

  • Colour change (Delta E)

  • Surface defects
